Vintage Ribbon Finds

I have a friend who loves estate sales and the possibilities that they offer. I've asked her to be on the look out for ribbon, rickrack, buttons, etc. as vintage sewing supplies are just well, cool. (and honestly going to estate sales is pretty awesome in itself, although I've never figured out how that whole "community" works as I hear it can be really competitive).

Anyway, when I saw her today she had found two trays of some really fun vintage German ribbon. I have no idea how old it is, but I'd say probably 30 years or more. I love how they are actually woven, and not one sided like ribbon today is.

So the ribbon is pretty Bavarianesk and all together they are really overwhelming.

But when you single them down, some of them are pretty awesome and have tons of possibilities.

Here are some good ones for Christmas projects

or Valentine projects

But most are pretty Bavarian with the little people, flowers, and look like the could adorn some sort of ski clothing

There was also some really neat rickrack

Vintage finds are so much fun and I can't wait to see what kind of projects they inspire!
