Chevron Burp Cloths

One of my projects over the weekend was to make some chevron burp cloths. I am so in love with these zigzags, if only The Bubb was super small and all spitty again. Hmm maybe I don't miss those days so much after all, I know our couch sure doesn't!

I made one of each color and couldn't help but take pictures of them. They are backed with minky

and I have some small pieces left over now that are screaming quilt quilt quilt. We'll see though. The wind is howling around here today. I don't mind the rain, hail, snow (not that we get any), lighting, etc. But I just don't like wind. Something unsettling about it I think.

Hope everyone is having a good week so far!

Vintage Sheet into Baby Blankets and Burp Cloths

About a week ago I received this wonderful vintage Star Wars sheet in the mail. It is so awesome!

The classic scenes from the original movies are just fantastic. I had been asked to make a couple of bigger baby blankets and then a small blanket as well out of it. After washing it, measuring, discussing scene selections for the mini blanket I laid out the sheet to figure out where to cut for the three different blankets.

Then I got to cutting and sewing

And these three fun blankets were created. All are backed with bubble dot minky in either mango and brown.

It turned out that I had a few scrap pieces left over so I also made 5 burp cloths to match, but I used organic cotton sherpa for the backing instead of minky.

Now that I'm done it makes me want to go Thrift Store shopping to see if I can find any old sheets that have She-Ra or Care Bears, etc. on them. How fun would that be?

Bibs and Burp Cloths

When I originally set out to make a whole bunch of bibs on Sunday, I didn't realize how much fabric I had accumulated over the past few months for this purpose. So I ended up making a lot of bibs, which works out fantastically as the Bubb is drooling a ton right now.

All of the bibs are backed with Michael Miller's organic terry cloth and the fronts are one hundred percent cotton. The burp cloths, yes well, I hadn't planned on making them too, but with all the fabric I couldn't help myself. I finished embellishing the rest of the plain Gerber Birdseye Prefold cloth diapers. If you remember, I also made a bunch from the All Star Flannel found here and here. I used snaps (yes they are still evil) instead of Velcro because it works better on the Bubb, same reason for why the closure is on the left front.

Of course they make sets!

If you noticed, the burp cloths made the with car fabric, currently one of my favorite fabrics, Kokka Cute Cars, it can be found here, are actually backed with the terry cloth.

Secretly I have hoped that the bright colors will focus the Bubb's attention to spit up on the burp cloth instead of everywhere else. He was greatly entertained by them sitting on the couch, so we'll see how it works out!

I also made a couple for me, cause I LOVE this fabric, and just because I have a boy doesn't mean that I shouldn't be able to use girly fabric once in a while.

All Star Flannel, Part 3

I bought two packages of Gerber Birdseye Prefold cloth diapers, aka burp cloths, right before The Bubb was born, as they seemed like the perfect thing to use to wipe up pretty much everything. And so far they have been fantastic, although some days I run completely out of them! I've been thinking about sprucing them up a little bit to make them more fun for me (and possibly the Bubb), so I decided to give it a try and I'm pretty excited by how they turned out!
