Paper Ornaments

Who knew sewing paper is actually easier than sewing material. Of course it dulls the needle, but luckily my machine already had one of those. I used the extra paper from the envelopes and cut out some yellow stars. I had seen this idea somewhere a couple weeks ago, either at a store, maybe Papersource, or on a blog somewhere, but for the life of me I can't remember where. So besides hanging these on a tree, I thought that it would be easy to double them as a gift tag/ornament.  I also love the fact that they are easy to send overseas, as they can easily slide into an envelope!

Winter Envelopes

I always enjoy making our Christmas card and this year was no exception, but the one thing that I always forget is envelopes. It is amazingly hard to find an A7 envelope (one that fits a 5x7 card) at a store. So instead of driving around for 5 hours (like I did last year), I thought hey I can make my own envelopes. (especially since the thought of going store to store with a 3 month old did not appeal to me). So it turns out that envelopes are very easy to make.

Starting out with an A7 envelope that I had on hand, probably left over from last year, I opened it up, traced around it onto festive winter paper, and cut it out. (After tracing about 2 onto colored paper, I opted to make a template out of cardboard). After cutting them all out, I folded the edges down, glued the sides in, stuffed them with our Christmas card, and  sealed them up. We liked them enough that I might have to make them again next year. Although admittedly my hand is a little bit cramped today...
