Pillow Preview

I bought a couple of different fabrics a few weeks ago with the idea to redo the pillows for our family area couches.  There are 3 little ones and one big one.  I decided to challenge myself on this project and use invisible zippers, as I could just enclose the pillows without zippers and then cut them off the next time I want to redo the pillow covers.  So I bought only one zipper to see how it goes before I do the three others.

E is for Elephants, Eskimos and Emmetts

Cookies are good every day, but spellable cookies are even better!  Too bad Emmett isn't quite old enough to enjoy these, but I enjoy eating them.  We found them at Whole Foods and they are quite addictive.  Plus there is a warning label on the back that says you should supervise your children while eating this product.

Happy Friday!

2 Months Old

Emmett is 2 months old!  (well on Monday, but I was waiting for doctor stats).  He weighs 12 pounds 6 ounces and is 25 inches tall, which puts him in the 75 and 95 percentiles - for those of you who want to know these things.  His head is 42 cm.  He likes to smile and babble at you while flailing his arms about.  He loves his rainforest and purposefully hits the toucan and bluebird that we have hung up. He is beginning to become more interested in tummy time again but hasn't made any more progress in flipping over besides his normal rocking. He puts his butt up in the air like he wants to go somewhere but doesn't know that he needs to move his arms and legs too! The Bubb has reasonably good head control and has just figured out that he can turn his head back and forth and does it constantly in rapid motions. He loves lights and staring at faces (real or in magazines) and enjoys a good bath. He is a really good sleeper and for the past week is going 8 to 9 hours a night. We love our Bubbadoo!

Candy Candy Candy

Our family of three had such a great time visiting Jesse, Christie and their kids in San Diego last weekend.  Never having flown with the Bubb we were sorta worried, but he didn't cry at all the whole time we were at the airports or on the plane. What a trooper!

We spent the weekend playing, carving pumpkins, going for walks, watching the Giants, going to an autumnfest, and of course trick or treating!  Here are some pictures from the weekend...of course we didn't take as many as we should have, but you can see the rest HERE.

Jack and Maddie playing with Emmett.  They piled all the 'baby' toys around him so he could choose.  He was absolutely enamored by them.

Scraps Put To Good Use

Right after we brought Emmett home from the hospital I quickly discovered that the sun directly hit his crib from the window that didn't have any blinds on it.  I had saved the scraps from our family room curtains, just in case I needed practice material for a project, so we hung those up to cover the window as far as Evan could reach on a chair.

But a couple of weeks ago I decided that they looked pretty pathetic being tacked to the wall with push pins, and the sun had shifted with winter coming, so it didn't actually block all the light anymore. Evan took the pretend curtains down (with our new ladder instead of balancing on top of a chair) and I made them into curtains.  I put them on a dowel from OSH and Evan hung them back up. And they do the job nicely until I decide on a color or theme for his room.
